AC Milan boss slams Tiemoue Bakayoko after defeat to Napoli

AC Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso has slammed criticised Tiemoue Bakayoko after the Rossoneri suffering a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Napoli. The San Siro outfit were at one stage holding a 2-0 lead during the game but a brace from Piotr Zielinski and a Dries Mertens strike ensured that the hosts made a dramatic comeback.

Speaking after the game, Gattuso was unpleased with the performance of Chelsea loanee Bakayoko, who was brought during the second period to break up play, he said: “Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball. We must work correctly. It will not be easy. One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player. I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players.”

Macheda Makes Standout PErformance

Federico Macheda’s first match as a player of Cardiff City occurred during his clubs’ match against Port Vale in the Capital One Cup and the Italian forward made a standout performance in his debut game as he scored 2 goals which helped Cardiff City in sealing a hard fought 3-2 triumph over Port Vale.

The boss of Cardiff City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Macheda’s debut match as the Norwegian manager told reporters:  “When a striker scores two goals on his debut, that’s fantastic. First half we dominated possession… we don’t shoot enough, we don’t finish enough – we get into some great positions and we’re just a little bit shot-shy,”

It was a great way for Macheda to initiate his career in his new club, in a club that is aiming to make a return to the Premier League as they were playing in the top tier English League in the previous season but were relegated after finishing at the very last spot.

Cardiff City’s latest campaign in the Premier League saw them only managing to secure 7 triumphs in the entire season and the consistent series of negative results sparked a sequence of rumors stating that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was on the verge of being sacked as the coach of Cardiff City but the owner of the club, Vincent Tan gave the Norwegian one season for him to push the team and make a return to the Premier League.

The owner of Cardiff City, Vincent Tan said:  “I told Ole: ‘I want you to continue, but you have to bring us back to the Premier League next season. I will help you. I will support you.’”

Guido Burstaller, Javi Guerra, Adam Le Fondre, Federicho Macheda, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Charlie Horton, Tom Adeyemi, Danny Johnson, Anthony Pilkington and Sean Morrison are all of the players that were signed by Cardiff City as reinforments for the team that its main objective is to make a return to the top tier English League.

Macheda Hopes For More Play time

Following the release of Manchester United in relation with Federico Macheda, Cardiff City signed him on a free transfer and permanent deal. The young Italian attacker is hoping that at his new club, he can get more time to play in the main squad and play a more important role but it might be slightly more complicated considering that the head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed Adam Le Fondre and Javi Guerra.

Both of those players are expected to play alongside as the main attacking powerhouses of Cardiff City and even if any of them get injured or suspended, Federico Macheda will still have stiff competition for the spot in the team with the likes of: Fraizer Campbell, Kenwyne Jones, Nicky Maynard and Joe Mason. All of those are the options that the coach of Cardiff City, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at this disposal to choose from. Macheda is another former Manchester card he can play.

Macheda is well aware of the new obstacles and challenges that he will face in Cardiff City.

“Of course the manager brought in two other strikers along with me and there will be competition for places. You are going to have to work hard and catch the manager’s eye even to get noticed. But that is good for the team; you always need competition especially when it comes to strikers. I want to prove myself to the manager, every season as a player you do have to prove yourself, but the person that I have to prove myself to the most is myself. I can’t wait to get the season started. My target is to play regularly and score as many goals as I can’’ Macheda said.

One of the main reasons on why Macheda decided to join Cardiff City was because of his relationship with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer as the Norwegian manager was the former coach of the reserve team in Manchester United and Macheda has already worked alongside him.

GREAT START

Federico Macheda kickstarted his loan spell in Birmingham City by scoring twice against Charlton and the player who made his way out of Manchester United until the end of the current campaign is optimistic that his new club is capable on finishing at the higher spots of the league.

“We have a good team with great young lads,” Macheda told BBC WM.

“With the quality we have, we look to finish as high as we can in the table.”

The 22 years old forward Macheda, still has not managed to find a spot in the main squad of Manchester United despite having switched managers and the club having offloaded players such as: Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov.

The unfortunate factor for Macheda is the fact that his situation in Manchester United is not going to change anytime soon as Moyes already has his attacking department filled up with Wayne Rooney, Van Persie and Juan Mata as those are the players that are consistently chosen in his starting lineup.

This situation has forced United on releasing Macheda on a number of loan deals to many clubs including: QPR, Stuttgart, Sampdoria and Doncaster Rovers.

“I have been at Man United for many years but I used to get on the pitch once or twice every month. So it is massive for me to play games. I try to score every game. I know it won’t happen.

I have no targets. I just hope the team does well.”

“I am on my last three or four months of my contract with United. I am on loan to impress. I have had loan spells that didn’t work, really. I went abroad and it didn’t really work. I went to Doncaster Rovers this season and now it’s Birmingham, I feel very comfortable’’. Macheda said.

DONCASTER DREAMING

Federico Macheda joined Doncaster Rovers in September on a 1 month loan deal but a hamstring injury saw him making a return to Manchester Unite earlier than expected although despite the short time that he played for Rovers, he still managed to score 3 goals in 5 matches.

After completing the recovery from his hamstring injury, Macheda joined Doncaster Rovers on another loan deal but this time until the end of December. The 22 years old Italian player has already said however that it is very likely he leaves Manchester United and his future will probably be outside of the Premier League club.

Macheda said he will likely have to leave United on permanent basis to further his career and suggested a return to his native Italy as the most likely destination.

“I have not had the opportunity to talk about my place at United, but I have not once been selected this year and I think my future will be far from Manchester”, he said.

“I need to find continuity until January. Then in January, we will see.
“Let’s see how it goes this year, and then I might as well go back to Italy.”

Macheda made an explosive debut with Manchester United back in 2009 when he scored an outstanding goal at the 93rd minute when the club was still under the control of Sir. Alex Ferguson and they were struggling in their match against Aston Villa but Macheda scored the winning goal in the last few seconds.

Since signing for Manchester United in 2008, Macheda has made 19 appearances and all of them coming from the bench. His lack of playing time with the club is the main reason why he wants to make a permanent move away from the champions of the Premier League.

MACHEDA INJURED

There was recently disappointment for Doncaster Rovers and Federico Macheda after the Manchester United striker, who have been on loan the Championship club, suffered an injury just weeks into his loan spell at the club. Doncaster had put a lot of faith in Macheda being fit until at least January in order to tide over their striker crisis. As a result of the injury, the 22-year-old Italian has returned to United in order to undergo treatment. Doncaster manager Paul Dickov, though, has said that he is keen on resurrecting the deal if the striker manages to get fit before January.

Macheda was initially set for a month-long stay at Doncaster, but it was cut short due to the hamstring injury. It is thought that he has impressed everyone at Doncaster sufficiently enough to warrant a second chance. Macheda has not been lucky when it comes to his loan spells because he has been unable to get regular game time for one reason or the other. In some of the loans spells, the manager who had brought him to the club would sacked or he would not settle at the club to show good form.

Doncaster recently managed a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough, but Dickov does not appear to be satisfied and wants to improve the squad even further.

“Kiko is getting closer to being fit again and although I have not spoken to United for a few weeks, I will be on the phone soon to see if we can get him back here as he was a big plus to the side with his eye for goal. I am always looking at how I can strengthen the side and this week I have been away a few days looking at players. If I see again what I saw on Friday night, I will look to bring in other players to play instead,” said Dickov.

FEDERICO MACHEDA

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is all set to leave the club at the end of the season as a free transfer. The striker is out of contract in 12 months time and his agent has revealed that there has been no offer of a new deal from United. The striker made his debut for the club as a teenager. His debut came in the most impressive fashion, as he managed to rescue United from a 2-0 scoreline to win the match 3-2 in the Premier league. He was expected to become one of the first-team regulars at United, but the subsequent years have been on the downhill for the player.

He has spent the last few seasons on loan at various clubs and the various leagues. However, none of the loan spells have actually helped him to get regular first-team football. Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson admitted towards the end of last season that the next loan move could be make or break for the player. Now, it appears that United unwilling to let him leave on a free transfer. Macheda’s agent, Giovanni Bia has said that his client will be playing for United this season before leaving on a free transfer in the summer.

“Unfortunately, there is no news [about a new contract]. The assessment that Manchester [United] have made is not one in line with a player whose contract is coming to an end. This year he will play in Manchester, seeing out his contract with the Red Devils and then he will be free to leave,” said Bia. During his four years at the club as a first-team player, Macheda has made 19 appearances for the first team. He has four goals from these matches. He has recently been linked with a loan move to Doncaster United.

ROONEY WILL STAY

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda, who is currently on loan at German club Stuttgart, has said that he does not expect star striker Wayne Rooney to be sold in the summer. There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Rooney, who has found himself down the pecking order in recent months. Rooney started the season behind Robin van Persie, who was a £ 20 million signing from Arsenal. The injury problems coupled with the overweight issues at the start of the season did not help the England international. Since then, he has found regaining the first-team spot extremely tough.

Van Persie has emerged as the main striker at Old Trafford. He has scored 23 goals in the league alone this season and he is the overwhelming favourite to win the Golden Boot award. Rooney continues to be linked with a move to French club PSG. The PSG owners and the director of football have been speaking a lot about Rooney in recent months. They see him as the perfect signing to improve the profile of the club substantially. PSG have almost bottomless pits of money and they have shelled out huge sums of it in the last few transfer windows to bring in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“No, I do not think so. He is an emblem of Manchester United and I think there is no better team in the world than that in which he is playing right now,” said the Italian international. Rooney managed to score 19 goals for United last season, but he has managed only 16 this time around. Macheda, meanwhile, has expressed his desire to stay at Stuttgart beyond the end of the season. He has said that he is willing to talk with Manchester United about extending the loan deal for next season as well.

MORE GAME TIME

The Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has been very little first-team action in recent years. The player has admitted recently that he would be happy to go out on loan even if it is for short-term because it would allow him to play on a regular basis. The striker has found it difficult to break into the first team that contains the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, and Javier Hernandez. This intense competition means that Macheda has been unable to start even a single Premier league match this season. The player has been linked with a loan move to clubs in Germany or Spain.

The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has not been traditionally afraid to send players out on loan deals. Macheda himself has spent loan spells at Sampdoria and QPR, but both have been unproductive for the player because he once again spent a majority of the season on the sidelines. His agent has clearly revealed that his client will be moving to a club where he will believe that first-team opportunities will come on a regular basis. Macheda has revealed that he may have made some mistakes in the past, but is extremely keen to rectify them and be an important player for United in the future.

“I had very bad luck with the loans but I think it helped me a lot. I think it helped me to gain experience in general. If I go out again on loan, I’m sure I will do well. I have been away two times already and, if it happens again. I’d look forward to getting playing time because maybe I made some mistakes but now I understand. I will take the chances I will have,” said Macheda on the official website of Manchester United. A decision is expected to be announced soon.
